Pupils' cemetery service

articlemain

Thirty east London pupils from a variety of faiths visited Britain's oldest Ashkenazi cemetery on Tuesday to remember Holocaust victims.

History students at Morpeth School lit candles and listened to readings of survivor testimony during the cere-mony at Alderney Road.

Two Morpeth sixth-formers who travelled to Auschwitz last year with the Holocaust Educational Trust spoke about their visit.

The school's head of history,Tom Smith, organised the ceremony. "We wanted to highlight the individual experiences of suffering to bring the magnitude of the event home to students," he said.
