An independent Chasidic boys' school in Stamford Hill, north London has passed its inspection with flying colours, showing it is possible to combine an intensive diet of Torah studies while meeting national standards.
Talmud Torah Machzikei Hadass, which is run by Belz Chasidim and teaches 533 boys from three to 16, has been rated good by Ofsted.
Its early years section was ranked outstanding, as was its attention to the care and safety of children.
Inspectors said "good teaching ensures that pupils acquire knowledge and skills quickly and provides a variety and breadth of suitable learning experiences".
British values, inspectors said, were "continuously being reinforced" in both secular and religious classes.
Co-chairman of Machzikei Hadass governors Rabbi Jehudah Baumgarten said that the school was "reaping the benefits" of several years' effort to institute improvements. "I must say it wasn't an easy inspection, it was extremely stringent and taxed us all," he said. "But it proved that the work has paid off."
A number of other Jewish schools had sought advice and "we are helping them."
