Health Secretary Sajid Javid extended his Chanukah greetings early this year as he reflected on the "miracle" of the festival of lights which begins this Sunday.

The cabinet minister also urged the community to remain vigilant in the fight against Covid-19 over the holidays.

Mr Javid said: “I want to wish everyone celebrating a Happy Chanukah. This is a time to reflect on the miracle of Chanukah and thanks to the modern scientific miracle of the vaccine, we are able to gather with family and friends, to share these special moments with our loved ones.

"However, the pandemic isn’t over, and I want everyone to do everything they can to stay safe this Chanukah."
