Police are appealing for witnesses after swastikas were found scratched into the door of a Jewish prayer hall in Liverpool.

The marks were carved in the Jewish section of Springwood Cemetery in Allerton.

The incident is being investigated by Merseyside police who are treating it as a hate crime.

A spokesman for the antisemitism monitoring organistation, the Community Security Trust, described the incident as “upsetting”.
