Penelope Solomon takes to the airwaves

articlemain

Listen out for Penelope Solomon. From next month, the Manchester-born comedy writer and performer will be hosting a new chat show on radio station Resonance 104.4 FM.

Called Tower of Bagel, the half-an-hour slot will feature a range of Jewish-themed material including comedy, live music and special guests. There will also be the item "Jewish Mother's Kitchen", where Ms Solomon will be calling her Cheshire-based mother, live on air, to provide a recipe.

She tells People: "Considering my mother has always told me to get a proper job I think it's quite nice of me to give her a slot on the show." Ms Solomon, who starred alongside Nicholas Lyndhurst in BBC series Goodnight Sweetheart, is no stranger to radio. She has appeared many times on Radio 2, including in a sitcom with Bradley Walsh.

"We did the Tower of Bagel pilot and the feedback was great. Although there are Jewish elements, non-Jewish people will definitely not feel alienated. There is something for everyone.

"Resonance had a Jewish slot a few years ago but this is the first bit of 'Jewish radio' they have done for a while."

Guests that are due to appear include poets Adam Taylor and John Hegley, singer Daniel Cainer and comedian Dave Cohen.
