Oxford University has confirmed that it will continue with its own investigation into allegations of antisemitism among Labour-supporting students.

The university said on Wednesday that the full publication of Baroness Royall's report into claims against members of a campus club had "undoubtedly been noted" by its own inquiry.

A university spokesman said it was "not appropriate to speculate" on the outcome of the internal inquiry into students at Oxford University Labour Club (OULC). The probe could see students fined, suspended or expelled.

Baroness Royall's inquiry, which was suppressed by Labour's National Executive Committee, found there were "some incidents of antisemitic behaviour" among students.

The university spokesman "harassment advisers, counsellors and welfare contacts" had been made aware of the Jewish Society's concerns.
