Oxfam will continue to work with Miftah, a West Bank-based charity, despite the appearance of a blog post invoking the blood libel on the website of the Palestinian organisation.
Last week, Miftah published a blog post in Arabic which read: “Does Obama in fact know the relationship, for example, between ‘Passover’ and ‘Christian blood’... ?! Or ‘Passover’ and ‘Jewish blood rituals...?!”
Following criticism, the Palestinian charity removed the blog post, issued an apology and has disciplined the staff member responsible.
Oxfam has worked with Miftah since 2010; the two currently working on a joint project to empower marginalised women.
A spokesperson for Oxfam said: “Oxfam rejects language and actions which promote hate, discrimination and violence of any kind. We are satisfied that Miftah shares these values.”
