Stand-up comedian Gareth Berliner made his début as a TV actor last week, with a small part in Coronation Street.

Originally from Essex, the Birmingham-based Berliner is playing a lovable rogue and cheeky chap called Macca. "I come in when Kylie [Platt] returns to her old haunt ,The Dog and Gun, looking for her ex, Max's dad, Callum," he explained. "Macca is Callum's mate, he's a bit rough round the edges and epitomises the life Kylie left behind."

The actor loved the famous cobbles and, despite being signed up only for two episodes, has been invited back by producers for more.
