Nicki Minaj has said her admiration for Larry David and Judge Judy “must be a Jewish thing”, in conversation with Jewish manager music executive Irving Azoff.
The rapper and singer also expressed a desire to appear on comedian Mr David’s sitcom Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Speaking as part of a keynote discussion at Pollstar Live 2020 in Los Angeles, the rapper and singer said her influences beyond the world of hip hop included “Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Madonna… Marilyn Monroe. Meryl Streep. Judge Judy. Larry David,” adding: “And I’m not lying, you guys. I’m obsessed. I think I like Jewish people, Irv.”
She went on to say that she thought “Jewish people are like black people. They say whatever the f**k they want to say.
“I’m always like, ‘Why do I like Larry David and Judge Judy so much?’ It must be a Jewish thing.”
Mr Azoff proceeded to tell his son, Jeffrey, to “call Larry and get her on [his sitcom Curb Your Enthusiasm].”
“Please do that,” she responded. “I’d love that.”
Mr Azoff is Ms Minaj’s manager through his company Full Stop Management.
