Jewish people have shared their anger at a popular cosmetics store after one of its branches posted a sign encouraging shoppers to boycott Israel.

A picture of the Henry Street branch of Lush Cosmetics in Dublin was posted on social media with a prominent sign in its front window reading 'Boycott Israel.'

Many Jewish social media users voiced their upset at the image, which appears to have been taken this week, during a conflict between Israel and Hamas which has claimed over 1,000 Israeli lives.

Lush has a long history of advocating for the Palestinian cause, sparking controversy in 2011 when promoting a pro-Palestinian song saying : “The catastrophe facing the Palestinian people is one of the defining global justice issues of our time."

A spokesperson for Lush said: "We are a diverse company with staff of all nationalities and religions whose personal views and opinions may vary, however, the following is our Company position.

"Lush’s stance is always that we deplore all violence and all injustice. Our wish is for peace and safety for all Israeli and Palestinian people. We support the upholding of international law and the human rights of all peoples."
