New Kosher restaurant to open at Bevis Marks synagogue

There has never been a wide variety of kosher restaurants in the City.

In 2003, Bevis Marks: The Restaurant opened on the synagogue’s premises, operating for almost a decade before moving a few streets away in 2012. In 2013, another restaurant opened at the shul – Restaurant 1701 (a reference to the founding year of Bevis Marks). However, despite moving out of the synagogue, Bevis Marks: The Restaurant restaurant kept its name, leading to confusion among diners who would turn up at the one restaurant when they had really intended to go to the other. 1701 closed down in early 2015, with Bevis Marks: The Restaurant following suit later that same year.
