Israel’s new ambassador to Ireland has presented his credentials to the country’s president.

Ze’ev Boker, 57, met President Michael Higgins yesterday.

Mr Boker, who was raised in an Israeli kibbutz, has served as a diplomat since 1987.

The first Israeli ambassador to the Slovakia Republic (2006-2010), he has formerly served as deputy chief of mission in Prague (1990-1993) and deputy Chief of mission in the Netherlands (1997-2003).

He succeeds former Israeli ambassador, Boaz Moda’i.

One of the issues Mr Boker will face in Ireland is countering the boycott and anti-Israel activism.
