Calling all mummy’s boys — or indeed mummy’s girls. There is a new BBC Three show coming out and Neil Rubinstein, its casting producer, is looking for participants.

Called Young, Dumb and Living off Mum, the programme — to be broadcast later this year — follows eight 17- to 25-year-olds who are used to relying on their mum and dad as they challenge themselves to become independent. They spend a month living parent-free in London and are set various real-life challenges.

Mr Rubinstein, 27, admits they have had a few applications from Jewish hopefuls. “I think there is a stereotype that Jews are dependent on their parents and here is a chance to prove people — and themselves — wrong. It’s an opportunity for people to see what life is like living without their parents. It’s a fun experiment.”

A freelance casting producer, Mr Rubinstein says: “We are looking for people who have perhaps not found the career they want, or are not working.” Filming is due to begin in early February. It will be the show’s second series — the first aired last year.
