A vice-chair of the pro-Jeremy Corbyn Momentum campaign group has been shortlisted to stand as the Finchley and Golders Green Labour candidate.
Emina Ibrahim, a cabinet member for housing at Haringey council, confirmed to the JC on Wednesday she was on the list of the party’s candidates to be interviews for the seat.
As a Unison union delegate Ms Ibrahim spoke out in 2013 against boycotts of Israeli trade unions and in support of Histadrut - a progressive force in Israel she said should be supported.
But her more recent support for Mr Corbyn will raise concern among most Jewish voters in Finchley and Golders Green.
Ms Ibrahim was shouted down by other hard left supporters in Haringey in 2017 over her support for the International Holocaust Remembrance Association (IHRA) definition of antisemitism.
Labour are expected to finalise their selection for the seat over the coming days, with a final hustings and selection on Sunday.
The party's previous candidate, Sara Conway, stood down in September citing "personal matters", amid a backlash against her for saying that antisemitism had been "weaponised."
