articlemain

Mira Ormala is heading for panto. Born in Finland, Miss Ormala moved to the UK a year ago to complete a post graduate degree in musical theatre at the Royal Academy of Music. She has since landed a lead role in Cinderella, touring Lancashire at the end of the year.

She will play the Fairy Godmother in the show, which also stars former Coronation Street actor Nick Cochrane (Andy McDonald).

Miss Ormala, 24, tells People: "I want to do musical theatre - that's why I moved to London. Just acting or singing has never been enough for me. Musical theatre allows you to do both. I also dance so it enables me to do all three.

"I am so looking forward to touring with the pantomime.

"Some people from my course have found it hard to get work so I feel lucky in many ways."

Miss Ormala, who lives in north London, spent much of her time in Finland singing Klezmer and Israeli music. She also plays the piano and last year, sung at Sir Elton John's concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

As for other opportunities, she says: "I am open to all options. In London you have the possibilities to try and do anything."
