Aspiring clothes designer Michaela Labaton has organised a fashion show in Manchester to raise money for Chrohn's Disease - having herself been a sufferer for the past two years.

Seventeen-year-old Michaela, a pupil at King David High School in Manchester, was diagnosed with the condition - which causes an inflammation of the digestive system - around eight months ago. She takes medication every hour and says that having the disease has completely changed her life.

Michaela tells People: "I decided that I wanted to raise money for the National Association of Colitis and Chrohn's Disease and to try to raise awareness of it at the same time.

"I do find it hard living with Chrohn's and I am still learning what I can and can not eat. It took me a long time to get used it but now I am not so worried as I have amazing support from my family and friends."

Several fashion stores including Slaters, Vicky Martin and Vanilla contributed to the show, during which Michaela exhibited a full-length dress made from Starbucks coffee cups and cup holders (pictured left) that she designed as part of her art GCSE project.

The sell-out show took place at the Hilton Suite in Prestwich, Manchester, and was attended by more than 500 people.
