Acclaimed music producer Mark Ronson collaborated with Pulitzer prize-winning author Michael Chabon on his latest album.
The British-Jewish producer asked the author over a year ago to write the lyrics for his long-awaited return album Uptown Special, whose debut single will be out in January.
Mr Ronson, 39, has spoken of his long-held admiration for the author’s work, citing the Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay as one of his favourite books to give as a present.
Jewish-American author Mr Chabon, 51, is often described as “one of the most celebrated writers of his generation”. He won the Pulitzer prize in 2001.
Mr Ronson worked on Amy Winehouse’s album Back to Black, which won five Grammys, and was awarded best male solo artist at the 2007 Brits for his album Version. He has worked with a wide variety of celebrated artists, from Duran Duran to Adele.
Uptown Special includes collaborations with Bruno and Andrew Wyatt and seeks to capture the soul and funk spirit of the 70s and 80s.
