Leeds art gallery owner Maxwell Roberts has been made Master of the Fine Art Trade Guild, the trade association for the whole of the UK's art and framing industry.
Mr Roberts, who runs the Headrow Gallery in north Leeds, has been involved with the Guild for many years. He will be master of the organisation for the next two years.
The 57-year-old former photographer tells People: "I have always had an interest in the local and international art scene." Alwoodley-based Mr Roberts bought the gallery more than 20 years ago. "It used to have a name for traditional Yorkshire landscape scenes but the market has changed now and we tend to concentrate on more contemporary colour pieces."
Some of his favourite artists include Canadian Andrea Maguire and the Germany-based Madjid. The gallery, which is believed to be the oldest established art and picture framing gallery in Leeds, has been selling paintings, prints and picture framing for more than one hundred years.
