A mass brawl that led to the closure of a celebrity-frequented nightclub in London was sparked by antisemitic abuse, it has been claimed.
According to the Evening Standard, Kensington club Boujis has been ordered to close its doors for two weekends and may face a battle to retain its licence after 16 people were involved in a fight outside the venue last Sunday.
Images from mobile phones showed one person being thrown across the bonnet of a car as others trade blows.
The footage includes the voice of one person shouting "f***ing Jews".
More than a dozen people were caught on camera brawling on the street outside Boujis in Kensington, which is popular with celebrities and Royals.
Seven people - six men and one woman, all aged between 18 and 21 - were arrested at the scene, and all were issued with fixed penalty notices.
According to the Standard, an investigation by the nightclub suggested that the violence was sparked when antisemitic abuse was aimed at a group of Jewish people who had booked a table.
Matt Hermer, chief executive of Ignite which owns Boujis, who is Jewish, described the footage of the fight as “horrific”.
The Metropolitan Police requested an urgent review of the club's licence after the fight, which they described as a '"rigger offence".
A statement from the club's owners said: “We are appalled by the actions of a select group of young adults who were fighting outside our venue on the 25th of October 2015.
“As a result of this incident, and in consultation with the police and the council, we offered to close our doors for 10 days to enable us to implement some new measures to try and prevent incidents like this occurring in the future.
After the club reopens, on November 10, it will no longer admit anyone under the age of 21 and will close one hour earlier, at 2am.
The private club which charges £500 a year for membership, was once regarded as a favourite nightspot of Prince Harry and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
It has hosted star-studded parties where guests have included Rhianna and Lewis Hamilton.
