Lord Young honoured

articlemain

Former Cabinet minister Lord Young has been made a Companion of Honour by the Queen for public service. The peer, who served under Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the 1980s and as an adviser to David Cameron, received the award from Prince Charles at a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

Lord Young said:"I grew up in a typical Jewish home where the need to give back to the community, both to our community and the wider community, was taken as read. Community service, both public and private, has been the most satisfying part of my life and to receive this honour has been the gilt on the gingerbread."
