Listen out for this man. Nineteen-year-old drummer Linden Berelowitz has already supported some of the nation's top singers, including Tiffany Page. He also plays drums on Paloma Faith's latest album, which reached number one on iTunes.

Next up: the States, where he has won a scholarship to study at the Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Mr Berelowitz tells People: "I am ridiculously excited. I have visited some of the university campuses in the UK but America will be a whole different ball game."

The Londoner, who see himself very much as a "musician not a drummer" has been playing the drums since he was ten. "I have always been really into music. I remember when my brother used to play the blues. I guess I have always been surrounded by it." A former pupil at the King Alfred School in north London, where he gained As in his music and music tech A-levels, he has spent the past 12 months (his gap year) concentrating on his music.

"It's all happening. It was great to do the Paloma Faith stuff, and hearing it come on when I was in Asda was very bizarre. But I am also keen to start my own projects focusing on music that I am passionate about." His favourite genre? "It's impossible to say. I've covered so many styles. I do a lot of jazz and played in a reggae band for a bit." He was recently offered an endorsement by electronic drum company Roland to be signed as their artist.

Mr Berelowitz attended a five-week summer course at Berklee in 2008, when he was placed in the highest-level ensemble and invited to play in the final blow-out concert. He then applied to be a full-time student and is due to start his four-year course in September.
