The League of Jewish Women has launched a New Year campaign to provide two extra meals a week for the homeless in 2016.
The League is aiming to provide 200 cans of soup, 100 cans of baked beans and 60 new pairs of socks every month to the Camden Spectrum Centre in north London which provides services to the homeless.
Due to a lack of funds the centre can only provide one dinner per week to those in need.
LJW head of development and communications Jackie Baines said: “This is a new project, but the League have a history of pioneering new projects."
LJW groups support night shelters for the homeless at synagogues in Hendon and Wimbledon and a project in Radlett provides clothing.
Ms Baines said LJW were inspired to help the homeless in Camden after a member of staff spoke to an army veteran who had lost his job and home and was living on the streets in the area.
