To the corporate world, he is a former partner at chartered accountants BDO Stoy Hayward, and to the community he is the ex-honorary treasurer of the Joint Israel Appeal (now UJIA).

But now Lawrence Fenton is making a name for himself as an artist. Mr Fenton, 79, is displaying his paintings in his debut solo exhibition. Titled Have Paintbrush, Will Travel! The Paintings of Lawrence S Fenton, it is split into two sections: The Underwater World and The English Countryside. The works are being exhibited at the ArtsDepot, north Finchley, until January 30.

Mr Fenton tells People: “The Underwater World paintings arose through many years of scuba diving, as one of the first members of the British Sub Aqua Club, and The English Countryside through my appreciation of the beauty of England.”
