Labour General Secretary Jennie Formby has cancelled a meeting of the party’s antisemitism working group – after claiming too many of the Momentum-dominated body are on holiday.
In a move that has sparked anger among Jewish Labour MPs, Ms Formby informed the ruling national executive committee’s (NEC) equalities sub-committee that Thursday’s planned meeting will not go ahead even though the crisis over Jew-hate continues to damage the party.
Ms Formby has repeatedly said she wanted to make tackling the crisis her top priority – and had already taken a two week holiday herself last month.
Others invited to attend the scheduled meeting included Momentum founder Jon Lansman, and group’s organiser Rhea Wolfson, alongside Baroness Shami Chakrabarti, Labour’s shadow attorney general.
