Jewish Labour MP Alex Sobel has sought advice after attending a conference where someone was diagnosed with coronavirus.
Mr Sobel told his Twitter followers on Friday that he was among more than 200 guests at the UK Bus Summit in Westminster on February 6 where another person, who has not been named, was confirmed to have the illness, which is also known as Covid-19.
The Labour and Co-operative MP for Leeds North West said he was taking all necessary and precautionary measures since discovering the news.
He said he was cancelling all engagements until next Thursday as a precaution.
He wrote: “Whilst I have been informed that I am at very low risk, I have called 111 to be formally assessed.
“As a precaution, we have cancelled all engagements until next Thursday when the 14-day potential incubation period will end.”

On Friday Mr Sobel’s office said he had “spent the afternoon in isolation in a room in his office away from staff
“After receiving advice from 111 and being established as low risk, Alex will not remain in isolation, but will stay away from public engagements as a precautionary measure.”
His office wanted to make clear that “Alex has not been tested for coronavirus, only assessed by 111.”
A letter sent to delegates who attended the conference on Thursday advised them to call NHS 111 if they develop symptoms such as a fever or cough.
The letter also advised them to remain indoors and avoid outside contact if they start to feel unwell.
