Labour’s “race and faith” manifesto fails to reference any connection between the Jewish people and the State of Israel.
Launched today at an event hosted by Jeremy Corbyn, the document makes reference to the fact Labour has “adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance ‘working definition’ of antisemitism”.
But the manifesto only uses the section of the definition which makes reference to hatred of Jews. The rest of the definition - which refers to Israel - has been cut.
A foreword written by Mr Corbyn states: "A recent rise in hate crimes including antisemitic attacks... underscores how far we still have to go."
Committing the party to a programme of equality for black, Asian and other minority groups, the manifesto explains: “Antisemitism is an evil which led to the worst crimes of the twentieth century.
“Every one of us has a responsibility to ensure it is never allowed to fester in our society again.”
