Ken Livingstone's LBC radio show axed

articlemain

Ken Livingstone's show on LBC has been dropped in the wake of the controversy surrounding his comment that Hitler backed Zionism.

A spokesman for the radio station confirmed that Mr Livingstone would no longer present the Saturday politics show. Mr Livingstone had co-presented the programme, which had 300,000 listeners, with former Tory minister David Mellor for the past eight years. Their contracts have not been renewed.

The decision was announced after Mr Livingstone was suspended from the Labour Party for claiming that Hitler supported Zionism during an interview on LBC last month.

However the former Mayor of London denied the decision was related to his controversial comments.

He told the Guardian that the show could not run during the EU Referendum because of Ofcom's rules on impartiality.

Mr Livingstone has repeatedly refused to apologise for his comments.
