Katie Waissel’s fortunes looked much brighter this week as she sailed through to the next round of the X Factor.
The 24-year-old looked shocked as her name was the first to be called to go through to next week’s show, hugging her fellow contestants and mentor Cheryl Cole.
On Saturday’s Beatles themed show, Katie sported a new 1960s haircut and sang the hit Help.
She received a mixed reaction from the judges. Dannii Minogue said: “Every week you say this is the real me, this is the real me and every week it’s something completely different.
“I’m still a bit confused as to what is the real you.”
Judge Simon Cowell however said: “I’m glad that you have remained in the competition. This shows you stripped back bare, no gimmicks, sang a song and lyrically it was absolute genius!”
Cheryl Cole added: “I think this was my performance of the night!”
Her Saturday night song was appropriately titled, as she pleaded help from the audience to save her from the bottom two for the fifth week in a row.
Her words must have struck a chord with the audience as she does the hippy hippy shake in to the eighth week of the X Factor.
