London mums Karen Pomerance and Louise Caplin have a tasty new job.
The close friends have teamed up to be the sole distributors of a unique range of Israeli food and drink. The Israeli-based company is called Derech Hatavlinim but is being marketed in the UK - by Mrs Pomerance and Mrs Caplin - under Spice Way.
Two of Spice Way's products were recently awarded gold stars at the Great Taste Awards - credited as being the national benchmark for food awards. These were the drink Posh Pomelo & Melon in the Fruit Infusion range, and in the Fast Gourmet range, Classic Chinese - a mix of dried ingredients to be stirred into rice.
Mrs Pomerance (right), a mother-of-three, tells People: "We were on holiday in Israel when we saw the products. We brought home as much as we could to use on our families. We then realised that there was a gap in the market for something like this."
The Spice Way ranges are stocked in around 20 delicatessens across the UK.
Mrs Caplin, a former buyer at Marks and Spencer and also a mother-of-three, says: "It is fantastic to be involved in something that we believe in and understand.
"It's a shame we didn't know about it years ago as it is about making life easier. The opportunity to be able to develop new products to answer consumer demands is very exciting."
