A Jewish political journalist has resigned from the Liberal Democrats, saying she will not continue "tacitly accepting antisemitism" by remaining in the party.
Charlotte Henry, who writes for the Independent on Sunday, condemned the party for it stance on anti-Israel Lib Dem MP David Ward.
Ms Henry, who joined the party in 2009, said Mr Ward had "made repeated comments that I believe are antisemitic, and received almost no sanction from the party." She said his tweets on the Jerusalem synagogue attack this week were the final straw.
The Bradford East MP tweeted on Tuesday night that those responsible for the Jerusalem synagogue attack had been "driven to madness by [the] failure of international community to deal with Israel".
A Lib Dem spokesman said it did not recognise Ms Henry's characterisation of the party. "Liberal Democrats are strongly against racism in all its forms, including antisemitism," he said.
Mr Ward was suspended from the Lib Dems last year over remarks about Israel and Jews.
