Joel Kern helps budding actors achieve their dreams

articlemain

Theatre impresario Joel Kern is helping children fulfil their dreams of making it in the entertainment industry.

Mr Kern, 21, is the founder of Make Believe Productions, which he set up in 2004, aged 14, to help those between three and 18 to sing, dance and act.

The company puts on regular productions, with a share of proceeds going to charities including Norwood, Great Ormond Street and Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Mr Kern invited 60 Norwood service users to his recent performance of Bugsy Malone at the Bloomsbury Theatre, London. Mr Kern, who used £4,000 of his barmitzvah money to establish Make Believe, tells People: "I love working with kids and giving people an opportunity to get involved in something different."

A former pupil at King Solomon High School in Essex, Mr Kern lives in Hainault.
