Madness fan Joe Morris is paying tribute to the popular British band in a somewhat unusual way.
The 48-year-old foot messenger has published Victorian Madness Lyrics. In it, he has re-written the group's entire song words in exaggerated Dickensian language. The hit song Our House becomes Our Abode, Baggy Trousers: Ill Fitting Pantaloons and The House of Fun: The Establishment of Amusement. Mr Morris, who works for a printing company, tells People: "I've always written on and off but this is my first proper literary endeavour. It's a bit of fun. It's a zany but affectionate homage to Madness. I am hoping it will be popular with university students and eccentrics." Does he have a favourite song? "Our House, which is the Madness anthem, is very amusing."
Mr Morris, who has a diploma in journalism, is now planning his next publication. "I have written over 170 articles for a sports website so I would like to bundle them all together and turn them into something at some point." But for now, he is concentrating on his latest work, available from Amazon and other online bookstores. "It's a calculated adventurous gamble and I hope it will pay off. I think it's very clever." Wonder what Suggs thinks?
