Referring to the Labour leader as “Saint Jeremy”, she described his promise of a jobs-first Brexit “b*llocks”, adding that he was “in third place after Pontus May and Don’t Know” in political surveys.
On Labour’s antisemitism crisis, she wrote: “‘Speak not of the Jews!’ cried the host. ‘Why must thou speak so oft of the Jews?’
“‘Yea, I must speak,’ said she, ‘for when Jews no longer feel safe in Labour then I too must leave.’
“And one of the host did shout something about the Rothschilds and he was hastily hushed by his brethren, who did declare, ‘he is not one of ours, thou he sports a #JC4PM halo.’
“And another did speak and he said, ‘it is not antisemitic to criticise Israel,’ and she did put her face in her hands and want to weep.”
While Ms Rowling’s thread was retweeted more than 10,000 times, she also received a flurry of negative responses from supporters of Mr Corbyn.
Aaron Bastani, the co-founder of left-wing news site Novara Media, responded: “You are worth hundreds of millions. It’s kind of reassuring that this is what you choose to do in the run up to Christmas. Money really doesn’t make people happy.”
Guardian columnist Hadley Freeman pointed out that Ms Rowling “gives hundreds of millions to charity”, while journalist Tanya Gold called him “an idiot”.
