Dame Margaret Hodge has been elected as the new Parliamentary chair of the Jewish Labour movement by its national executive committee.

The veteran Barking MP has been a staunch critic of Jeremy Corbyn over antisemitism in the Labour Party.

Speaking to the JC before the general election, Dame Margaret stressed her commitment to continue fighting antisemitism "from inside" the party.

“I campaign for the Labour values that brought me into the party. I campaign on those values of anti-racism. I will never stop calling out antisemitism. I just won’t.”

The JLM also expressed delight that its former Parliamentary chair, Ruth Smeeth, who lost her Stoke-on-Trent North seat at the general election, will remain involved as national vice-chair.
