Jersey's deputy chief minister, Freddie Cohen, has once again been the victim of antisemitic hate mail just weeks after announcing he would step down following a racist death threat.
Senator Cohen, the former president of Jersey's 65-family Jewish community, said he and his family were left "deeply upset" after receiving the letter at his home address.
"The content is traditional, deep-rooted, abhorrent antisemitism," he said. "Had the letter been written in the Middle Ages or in the 1930s, the content could have been similar.
"This view is something we had hoped was no longer prevalent in a modern, civilised democracy. It's quite extraordinary that even a small number can hold such extreme, out-of-date, irrational views."
Last month the 53-year-old father of four said he would not stand at the next election after he was bombarded with a series of antisemitic messages and a death threat.
The messages were a response to a controversial planning development.
Jersey's chief minister, Senator Terry le Sueur, spoke out against the messages in the States, the island's parliament, calling it a "misuse of freedom of speech".
