British violinist Jack Liebeck has been signed by Sony.

The 28-year-old will release a CD under the Sony Classical label. Due for release in May, it will include works by Antonin Dvorak and feature the Royal Scottish National Orchestra under Garry Walker with pianist Katya Apekisheva.

Mr Liebeck, who has been playing the violin for 20 years, tells People:

“It’s always been a dream of mine to release a CD with a major label. I’m sort of pinching myself at the moment.

“I can’t wait to actually have the disc in my hands. Hopefully this will pave the way for more concerts.”

A former pupil at the Purcell School of Music and the Royal Academy of Music, Mr Liebeck has performed with several orchestras, including the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, Nieuw Sinfonietta Amsterdam and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

He has also appeared under the baton of many renowned conductors including Martyn Brabbins, Gunter Herbig, Alexander Lazarev, Sir Neville Marriner, Leonard Slatkin and Barry Wordsworth, and recently performed Alban Berg’s Chamber Concerto with the Manchester Camerata for the BBC.

“This could be a turning point,” says Mr Liebeck, who lives in Finsbury Park, north London.
