She will cheer on Team USA over the weekend
February 23, 2018 14:51Ivanka Trump has arrived in South Korea as part of her diplomatic duties at the Winter Olympics.
She met South Korean President Moon Jae-in for dinner at his residence, the Blue House, and will cheer on the American Winter Olympics team on Saturday before attending the Closing Ceremony on Sunday.
Ivanka told reporters as she arrived at Incheon airport that she is 'very, very excited to attend the 2018 Winter Olympic Games (and) cheer for team USA.'
My daughter, Ivanka, just arrived in South Korea. We cannot have a better, or smarter, person representing our country.
Seoul has promoted the 2018 Winter Games as the "Peace Olympics," and analysts have declared Ivanka's visit a strategic one.
"Given the universe of dignitaries in this administration that the president could have sent to South Korea, Ivanka Trump is probably the best of the lot in terms of a relatively good reputation, having a fair amount of charisma and star power," Evan Resnick, coordinator of the US Program at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, told CNN.
"In purely symbolic terms, she's probably the best face of this administration."
Donald Trump echoed these sentiments, tweeting: "My daughter, Ivanka, just arrived in South Korea. We cannot have a better, or smarter, person representing our country."
