Israel’s deputy prime minister opened the London Stock Exchange on Thursday.

Silvan Shalom, who is also Israel’s interior minister and responsible for Palestinian relations in the cabinet, was joined by business leaders from the UK and Israel as he opened the London trading market.

A spokesman for the Israeli embassy said Mr Shalom was in the UK this week for a “special occasion”.

This comes after the LSE was opened by the UK Israel Business group in February.
