Michal Biran stood behind the bar, pulled a pint of bitter and let the memories flood back.
The MK, who represents Labour in the Knesset, was back in the The White Ferry House in Victoria, central London, the pub where 11 years ago she had worked as one of the bar staff.
"I think they had a pool table before. Those are the exact same tables and chairs, though, and I remember vacuuming these carpets," she said, smiling as she looked around the bar.
As a 27-year-old, Ms Biran came to London on a student visa to get some "time to think," but had a rude awakening when she arrived. "I imagined myself waitressing in a cool pub like in Israel, but then I realised that here you just order at the bar and they only served beer."
Despite staying at the pub for just six weeks, she said that she ended up "really happy about working here," before going on to work at the JNF for two-and-a-half months. So much so that she made a photo album out of it. "I was taking pictures of everything and writing down all the stories I heard from drunk regulars," she said.
Ms Biran was back in London last week as a guest of the Jewish Labour Movement. She met her counterparts in the British Labour Party, hearing how many of them want to call time on the leadership of Jeremy Corbyn.
"If he is still party leader at the next election," Ms Biran said, "I would probably hope he would lose."
