Israeli Embassy commemorates terror victim

articlemain

The Israeli Embassy in London has held a memorial ceremony marking the 40th anniversary of the killing of agricultural attaché Dr Ami Shachori.

Dr Shachori was fatally wounded by a letter bomb at the Embassy in September 1972. The bomb was sent by Palestinian terrorist organisation Black September, also responsible for the kidnap and murder of 11 Israeli athletes and officials during the 1972 Munich Olympics.

Staff gathered at the Embassy on Wednesday morning for a service led by Ambassador Daniel Taub. "Sadly, every Israeli representing their country has to be very careful because we are on the frontline," he told staff.

Following a prayer, a poem and a minute’s silence a short film was shown in Dr Schachori's honour on the subject of Israel's modern agricultural advancements and the role they play in helping developing countries.
