The UN Security Council is due to hold an emergency meeting on Tuesday over an Israeli strike targeting Hamas operatives that also reportedly killed dozens in a displaced persons camp in Rafah.

Shrapnel from the strike in Rafah on Sunday night may have ignited a fuel tank, starting a fire that engulfed tents housing displaced Gazans and leading to dozens of noncombatant deaths, Israeli officials told the Biden administration.

A US official told CNN that according to the Israelis, a precision munition was used in the strike.
