Two IDF soldiers killed in clash on Lebanon border

articlemain

The IDF has confirmed two soldiers were killed and a number of others wounded in an incident on the Lebanese border.

Earlier reports suggested four people had been killed.

An IDF patrol was hit by rocket fire in the Har Dov area. Initial reports suggested anti-tank missiles and grenades had been fired by Hizbollah terrorists on the border.

The Israeli military responded with fire and denied that a soldier had been kidnapped. Some reports claimed a Spanish peacekeeper who was part of a United Nations peacekeeping force was killed when the IDF responded.

A new Hizbollah subgroup reportedly called the Quneitra Martyrs' Brigade was said to have claimed responsibility for the attack.

The IDF confirmed soldiers had been evacuated and were being treated in hospital for light injuries.
