An Israeli policeman was stabbed in West Bank on Monday in the third terror attack its type in a week.
The Palestinian assailant, believed to be in his 20s, approached the Border Police officer at the checkpoint at the Tapuach Junction. He said he was feeling unwell and asked for help. As the policeman approached, the attacker pulled out a knife.
Another soldier shot the attacker before he could do more than lightly wound the policeman.
"We were ready and prepared and that is why the event has ended this way. We're dealing with only a few seconds, so that vigilance and operational readiness are the only way to confront these events. My injury was superficial. I'll get quick treatment and return to my duty," said the policeman.
Feigning illness or thirst in order to spring a surprise attack appears to be an increasingly common tactic among Palestinian terrorists.
