Team Russia will not be participating the 2022 Maccabiah Games in Israel next month, it has been announced.

Athletes from Belarus - which is closely allied to Putin's regime - will also no longer be participating in the games.

Russian athletes were due to compete in the games being held in Tel Aviv next month, but organisers have said in a statement that the team had made the decision to withdraw.

It comes after Russia has been banned from other sports tournaments, including the upcoming football World Cup, following the invasion of Ukraine.
