Israel’s Central Traffic Unit was alerted to the video after it went viral and sent officers in Jerusalem to track down and apprehend the driver's owner.
The man, a 35-year-old resident of the Arab-Israeli village of Ein Nakuba, is currently under investigation by Israeli Police for the incident and could have to face traffic charges in court for endangering other road users and for driving a vehicle without a valid road test.
Israeli police emphasised that the suspect had behaved in a dangerous and improper manner when he allowed his dog to be in the driver’s seat, diminishing his own and other’s driving capability.
