The former Israeli ambassador to the UK has completed his first few days in his new role.
Ron Prosor, who was appointed as Israel's ambassador to the United Nations earlier this year, started work on Wednesday.
He said he considered it an "honour and a privilege to represent Israel - a vibrant, democratic state - in the halls of the UN".
Mr Prosor added that he stood ready "to work with the international community to address our shared challenges and seize our common opportunities in this important multi-lateral organisation."
Israel has not had a permanent representative at the UN since the departure of diplomat Gabriela Shalev last summer.
Mr Prosor's successor in London has not yet been named.
