Eitan Na'eh will be Israel's new ambassador to Turkey.

Currently deputy ambassador in London, Mr Na'eh will be his country's first official representative in Ankara for five years, and the first since Israel and Turkey concluded a reconciliation agreement.

Mr Na'eh, whose wife is from Manchester, was previously envoy to Azerbaijan, and served as a general consul in Turkey's capital between 1993 and 1997.

Mark Regev, Israel's ambassador in Britain, said: "London's loss will be Ankara's gain. I wish Ambassador Na'eh success in his new role."

Mr Na'eh spent much of last year in charge in London following former envoy Daniel Taub's departure.
