The mother of the Palestinian toddler who was burned to death in a West Bank arson attack in July has died of her wounds.

Riham Dawabsheh, whose 18-month-old son and husband died in the attack by Jewish settlers, had suffered third-degree burns on 90 per cent of her body.

Mrs Dawabsheh's condition took a turn for the worse on Saturday after nearly five weeks on life support at the intensive care unit of Sheba Medical Centre, Tel Hashomer.

The funeral was held in Douma on Monday afternoon.

PLO Secretary General Saeb Erekat said in a statement that the Israeli government was to be held to account for the "martyrdom" of Riham Dawabsheh, her son and her husband.

MK Zehava Gal-On, who leads the left-wing Meretz party, bemoaned the fact that no arrests have been made in connection with the attack.

"The death of Riham Dawabsheh is a reminder to anyone who was shocked last month and then forgot to be moved to action," she said.
