Fauda star Lior Raz has paid tribute to a co-star, Idan Amedi, who was seriously injured fighting in Gaza.

Earlier today, Amedi’s family released a statement saying that the actor and singer had been injured by an explosion in Gaza while carrying out reserve duty in the Combat Engineering Corps.

He was airlifted to Tel Hashomer hospital in Israel this afternoon and underwent surgery before being sedated to recover.

Speaking to the Walla news site, Amedi’s father said that his condition was no longer life-threatening.

Posting on Instagram, his co-star Lior Raz paid tribute to Amedi, who plays Sagi on the hit show.

He wrote:”Our dear brother Idan is a true hero and from the first day of the war decided to put everything aside and go out to war. First in the North and then in the South. We are praying for his speedy recovery and are sure that he will be fine.

"The Fauda family sends condolences to his family.”

Late last year, a crew member on Fauda was killed in the northern Gaza Strip along with three other IDF soldiers.

Matan Meir, 38, was killed in an explosion from a booby-trapped tunnel shaft next to a mosque in the Beit Hanoun area of Gaza.
