Jennifer Lawrence - star of the Hunger Games films - has been removed from posters advertising the release of the latest episode of the franchise in some parts of Israel.

Posters for Mockingjay -Part 2 have been redesigned for a handful of cities including Jerusalem and the predominantly Charedi Bnei Brak. Instead of Ms Lawrence as Katniss standing ready with her bow-and-arrow, residents of these cities will see only a mockingjay blazing in flames on the film poster.

“We discovered that public posters with the image of a female are often torn down in Jerusalem, while Bnei Brak does not allow posters with female images,” a representative of the film’s Israeli PR firm told Ynet.

According to analysts, Mockingjay – Part 2 is expected to make $300m globally in it’s opening weekend. The three previous films in the Hunger Games franchise, which all star Ms Lawrence, have grossed over $2 billion.
